If art and culture is your thing, there are plenty of monuments to see in Salou, Spain. Go see the Casa Bonet, or the Iglesia de San Ramon, and the Faro during your holidays on the Costa Daurada. Casa Bonet is a reflection of modernist spirit that passed through Catalonia during the first part of the 20th Century. It is an emblematic building and full of reliefs and modernist architecture.
The Iglesia de San Ramon is a religious temple that was built in the 20th century. It has a modernist air about it. If you'd like to see older buildings, there iis the Iglesia de Santa Maria del Mar, built in the 18th century, but was later reformed and extended during the 20th century.
Taking a visit to the library is also a special trip, or the Archivo Civil de Salou. They are both emblematic buildings to the city. You must see the Faro de Salou, the Masi or la Fuente de Luz.... each monument here has its own history and points of interest.
An important monument in Salou is the Monument dedicated to Jaume I, built in 1965 to honor this conquistador that left the waters of Salou in direction toward the Balearic Islands in the 18th Century to conquest the island. There is also a streeti in town named after him, called Paseo e Jaume I. |
